There are many reasons why we suggest that you use a local lender with experience making local loans in our local market. Why use a SW Florida mortgage lender? Our Southwest Florida market is unique and a lender out of New York (or any other state for that matter) isn’t going to realize that Naples isn’t distressed and under water like some of the other cities in Florida. We’ve worked with buyers who want to use the lender that they have worked with in the past, back home, a lender who has never visited Naples much less Florida, who has no idea what the property values are and what the communities are like and if these communities are finance-able. They have no contacts in the community and are starting basically from scratch. They may have different underwriting standards, some of which may not even be applicable, that may make the closing of your loan more difficult and take longer.
