Florida population growth is taking off! On average, there are 803 new Florida residents coming to Florida every day. This is making Florida the third most populous state in the USA. This kind of growth drives the economy of the state and has improved the Florida economic base drastically and increased our influence in DC from 4 seats in 1910 to 27 today, the equivalent of the number of seats that New York has in DC.
The governor, Rick Scott, agrees. In a recent statement, he said, “Florida is on the way to become the number one destination for jobs and we continue to be the best place to live, work and raise a family. I look forward to more people and more job creators moving to Florida in the near future.”
In a one year period between July 1, 2013 and July 1, 2014 there were 293,000 new residents as compared to New York which added 51,000. The estimated population of Florida as of July 1 was 19,893,297 Floridians.
Where does Florida rank? It’s in third place, just behind Texas, number 2, with 26.96 million residents and California, number 1, with 38.8 million residents.
With the U.S. population up 2.4 million to 318.9 million, California remains atop the list of states with 38.8 million residents, followed by the 26.96 million Texans.
Six states had declines in population, West Virginia, Connecticut, New Mexico, Alaska, Illinois, and Vermont.
