How to sell your home faster.
This is part one of a three part series on selling your home faster and for more money. Isn’t that the goal after all?
Step one: Determine what needs to be done in your opinion. Then have a professional take a look and advise you. As Realtors, we see numerous homes every year in every style and have an excellent grasp on what sells and what doesn’t sell homes. We understand style, design, layouts, flow and lighting. Best of all, our advice is free to you and we only get paid when you sell the home. Sounds like a great deal!
Step two: Fix what’s broken. If you’ve got missing lightbulbs, put some in. If your front door paint is peeling, time for a fresh coat. Holes in the walls, patch, prime and paint. Doors that squeak or windows that stick? A little oil goes a long way. When buyers come to your home, they’re looking to make sure that you’ve maintained your home and not neglected the big or small things. If they find numerous items in disrepair, they start to wonder what else is wrong with the home that they may not be able to see. Do yourself a favor and fix obvious and not so obvious things in your home.
Step three: Bring in the light! If you’ve got low wattage bulbs or CFLs, switch to high wattage LED lights and turn them on for showings. Windows need to be washed (and while you’re at it make sure you power wash the outside of the home), make sure your light shades are light and clean and tie those heavy curtains back or get rid of them entirely.
