My wife and I have been looking for a condo on Marco Island for several years. We live in the Midwest, needed something at our price point, but did not want to pay for other’s decorating style or definition of “upgrades.” We signed up for an internet listing service and were notified the first afternoon one of Mike and Anna’s properties went on the market. The property seemed to be what my wife and I were looking for, but we had no relator under contract and no association with Mike, Anna, or the firm they represent. Phase 1- I called Mike to inquiry about the property and he picked up the call the first time, a rarity into today’s business world. Mike spent a good deal of time with me on the phone telling me about the property and answering my questions. He did not try to hard sell me, he just provided me answers. The answers he gave me are as accurate today, a few weeks after closing, as they were that late evening. A few hours after talking to Mike my wife and I decided to make an offer, sight unseen. Sure we saw some pictures, but making an offer on one day listing sight unseen was a bit unsettling. What made me comfortable was Mike’s knowledge of the market, the comparable properties sold and for sale he forwarded to me, and his professional demeanor. Mike and I talked pricing; no low ball, but a fair price for a unit I was truly interested in. The seller accepted the offer without countering. To me that meant Mike helped me arrive at a price to achieve everyone’s objectives. He was working with integrity for an “arms-length” transaction. Phase 2- Once the deal was done I moved from working with Mike to working with Anna. What a wonderful compliment they make to each other. As a real estate agent who is also an attorney, Anna knows the legal side of bringing a transaction through closure. Anna did not act in the formal capacity of an attorney, but she sure guided us through the process during the 45 day timeline. She made sure I knew what to expect, timely answered every e-mail I sent to her, was patient, and provided me lists of things I needed to accomplish. When I asked for local lending and closing sources, I was provided choices. I never contracted with any of those referrals, but Anna dealt with my firms in a professional and cooperative manner. There was much more “legal maneuvering” with the Association, insurance company, and seller’s side of the paperwork than I anticipated. Anna kept us all on track, and working together we closed a few days early as I desired. The buyers closed from the Midwest and the sellers in Naples, Florida. My wife and I have yet to see the place, but look forward to working on our snowbird nest over the coming months. Thanks Mike for all the trips to deal with the appraiser, inspection service, and other local resources I had helping me! Mike and Anna are a great team who can carry both the marketing and legal sides of a listing to closure with speed, professionalism, and integrity.
